Site Guidelines

Please adhere to the following guidelines when using the site. Following these guidelines will make the experience better for everyone.

  • The site is intended to be an educational community for algorithmic & systematic traders of different experience levels. There will be members with different backgrounds participating in discussions. Accordingly, please 'pay it forward' and help one another. The goal is to have an environment where everyone learns something and no question or idea is viewed as a bad question or idea.

  • Contribute to the site. The site is only as good as the community makes it.

  • Interact with other members as much as possible. The members all voluntarily joined the site for similar reasons and are likely to be similar to yourself in many ways.

  • Try to learn from all ideas- even if you think the posted idea is a bad one. For example, if a trading strategy proposed by a member has poor results, then try & fade it (reverse the signals) and test it out and see what happens. If possible, try to offer some guidance to the poster on how to improve the idea.

  • Avoid programming language arguments. These type of arguments will be removed from the site if they clog things up. If one language is better than another for the example being discussed, specify why and not ‘Java is slower than C++’. These type of arguments generally do not benefit anyone involved.

  • Members of this site generally use math, statistics, mechanical systems or black magic of some sort to make trading decisions. They do not use race, ethnic, religious & political ideas or beliefs. Because of this, race, ethnic, religious & political arguments do not have a place on this site. There are numerous other places on the internet to discuss these items so use them if you care to have that type of discussion. These type of arguments are generally useless and do not benefit anyone involved.

  • Don’t spam the site. These items will be removed.

  • The group currently has a budget of $0 for a moderator, so let’s make the most of that budget and be professional when submitting items to the site. We are all very busy trading and do not have time to clean up sloppy, unorganized, misspelled submissions.

  • Being traders, we all have made mistakes that likely cost us money. While a member may be very successful now, he/she likely wasn’t always that successful. We can all learn something from the successes & failures of other members and improve as a group.
